FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

>> What is house restumping? House restumping (also known as reblocking) involves replacing old or damaged stumps that support your home’s foundation. This is essential for maintaining structural integrity and preventing long-term damage. >> How do I know if my house needs restumping? Common signs include: • Uneven or sloping floors • Cracks in walls or ceilings • Doors and windows that stick or won’t close properly • Visible stump damage or rotting • Bouncy or creaking floors >> How long does restumping take? Depending on the size of your home and the condition of the stumps - an average 3 bedroom house takes roughly 2 weeks. >> Do I need to move out during restumping? Not always. In most cases, you can remain in your home during the works. If access is required beneath the flooring, we’ll first make every effort to work through the existing crawl space. Only if that’s not possible will we ask you to temporarily vacate the premises. >> How much does house restumping cost? Costs vary depending on factors like house size, number of stumps, type of stumps used (timber, concrete, or steel), and site accessibility. We offer free quotes to give you a clear idea upfront. >> What kind of stumps do you use? We use high-quality materials suitable to your property’s needs; timber, concrete, or galvanized steel stumps, depending on the structure, soil, and budget. >> Is restumping covered by insurance? In some cases, yes - especially if the damage was sudden or related to events like floods. It’s best to check with your insurance provider. >> Are you licensed and insured? Absolutely. We are fully licensed and insured for your peace of mind. All work complies with Australian building standards. >> Do you offer other services besides restumping? Yes! We also provide: • House levelling • Sub-floor repairs • General maintenance • Termite-damage repairs • Footings for extensions • New decks and Verandas >> Can you work on heritage or weatherboard homes? Yes, we specialise in older homes, including heritage listed properties, and take great care to preserve their character while upgrading their foundations. >> Do I need permits for restumping? In many cases, yes. We can guide you through the permit process and handle applications if needed. >> How do I get started? Contact us via our website or give us a call to book a free site inspection and quote. We’ll assess your home and walk you through the best options. >> At what stage of my renovations should restumping be done? House releveling should be your first step in ensuring a strong, stable foundation. Completing renovations before addressing foundation issues can lead to damage once the house is levelled, potentially requiring additional time and expense to have trades return and repair the affected work >> Do you replace/refit baseboards etc? Yes we can, however this needs to be discussed at the time of quotation.
